Eatery & Pej collaborate to help workplace restaurants enter the new era

The food service tech company Pej, and Eatery, a popular fast casual dining business, are collaborating to offer a new type of workplace restaurant.

The concept features inviting design, cravable, nutritious food for every business occasion, and sophisticated ordering and benefits technology enabling zero queues and convenience in the entire office building. A workplace restaurant that increases employee satisfaction and makes guests want to come back again and again.

A proof of concept has already been made as Eatery and Pej collaborated to create The Social Kitchen - a new office canteen concept for the global media group Schibsted. Situated in Kungsbrohuset, a landmark building in Stockholm housing over 1700 employees across 8 floors and 25 companies, this project marks a milestone in workplace dining.

- With The Social Kitchen, we want to embody the modern workplace dining experience and create a place where employees can enjoy great food, an inviting atmosphere, and smooth ordering technologies designed to meet their needs for breakfast, lunch, meetings, and coffee breaks. The Social Kitchen is not just a dining space, it is a way for Schibsted to invest in their employees, Malin Lindström, Head of Sales and Marketing at Eatery, says.

Support the future workforce

Eatery and Pej aim to develop the concept further to meet the demands of today's reality and help more companies stand out through the best employee canteen.

- The market trend indicates that an increasing number of people prefer ordering through digital channels, and a hybrid workstyle is, for many, the new normal. Guests want convenience, and ordering technology is the enabler. Imagine an almost hardware-free canteen where guests tap their phones, grab food, and enjoy lunch. To stay relevant, companies should adapt and offer an attractive place to be and eat, says Victor Sandberg, CEO of Pej.

To match the new workforce, it is not only about technology. Serving good, contemporary, and nutritious food in combination with a physical and digital setting that aligns with the client brand is equally important.

- We believe in creating an atmosphere and meals that align with the values of the companies we serve, lunch breaks that charge batteries, and meetings and coffee breaks that support productivity, Malin says.

A perfect match for the modern office canteen

Pej and Eatery have collaborated for a few years. Pej has added its food service technology to several Eatery restaurants. The Social Kitchen is a flagship site paving the way for the new workplace concept.

- At Eatery, we know catering but are no experts on digital. Pej is a trusted tech partner, knowing what it takes to bring a digital canteen to life with setups like selling dinner bags through connected fridges, offering personalised food service benefits, and pre-ordering of breakfast, Malin says.

- We are very happy to improve business cafeterias together with Eatery. Their food and way of building an attractive setting that is very impressive, Victor says.

This is Eatery and Pej for workplace restaurants

Every business is unique, and so is its cafeteria. The Eatery and Pej concept emphasises customisation, blending the elements of a modern and convenient office canteen while offering the flexibility to cater to the requirements of each company.

▪ Good, green, and nutritious food from morning to evening.

▪ Inviting design that aligns with the client brand, both in the physical space and also in channels like self-checkout kiosks and ordering apps.

▪ Solution for companies to subsidise food, deduct meal allowances from a paycheck and offer food benefits to celebrate wins, promote climate-friendly or healthy choices, and attract employees back to the office. Easy administration included. Employees pay and access food benefits with their company badge or digital wallet providing an overview of balance and benefits.

▪ Smooth self-checkout kiosks, ordering apps, and order-ready boards that reduce lines and free up time for both guests and staff. The solutions cover the entire office building - order to conference room, pre-order breakfast on busy mornings, and more.

▪ Integrations with the existing digital ecosystem and connections to apps and communication tools already in place.

▪ New food concepts like leftover lunch as dinner packages, pre-order breakfast bags, coffee subscriptions, and more.
